INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OFFICE

Office started its activities in March 2005 after having been awarded with the “Erasmus University Charter” by the European Union in May 2005. It was founded with the aim of  coordinating the programmes implemented by Prime Ministry State Planning Organization- The Centre for European Union Education and Youth Programmes- National Agency (www.ua.gov.tr)  such as  Socrates (General Education Programme) Leonardo Da Vinci (Vocational Training) and Youth.

The main task of International Relations Office, also working in co-opeation with the academic and administrative units, is to coordinate the exchange programmes (student and teaching staff mobility) under the framework of Socrates/ Erasmus. The International Relations Office is dedicated to offering in co-operation with the departments the following information and services to both students and staff:

• Disseminating information  on EU exchange programmes (student and teaching staff mobility) and application procedures

• cooperating with Erasmus department coordinators in order to find new exchange partners and establishing new bilateral agreements

• Co-ordinating the implemantation of ECTS&DS and giving information concerning the credits

• Organising orientaion and information sessions as well as preparatory language courses both for incoming and outgoing Erasmus students

• Organizing conferences on EU and exchange rogrammes

APPLICATION DEADLINES

For the academic year 2008-2009 application deadlines are as follows:

Full year: June 30th, 2008

Fall term: June 30th, 2008

Spring term: November 30th, 2008

Academic Calendar

Fall semester starts at the third week of September (14 weeks) examination period 2 weeks

Spring semester starts at the first week of February (14 weeks) examination period 2 weeks

APPLICATION PROCESS

Each applicant must complete the application form and post it to Dumlupınar University International Relations office with the other required documents before the deadline.

1)      Application form (completed in full and signed by the student. Applications posted without photograph and signatures will be invalid!) Click here to download the application form.

2)      Transcript of records (a copy of an official transcript in English)

3)      Learning Agreement (signed by the student and the responsible coordinators as well)

4)      2 passport-size photographs for your student identification card at Dumlupınar University.

After completing the required documents (Application form, Transcript of records, Learning Agreement (LA), and 2 photos) post them to the following address:

Before or after you post your documents send an information e-mail to iro@dpu.edu.tr

Once the applications are received by the International Relations Office,

1)      The application is controlled by the Office coordinators. If the application is complete, your application will be accepted and a confirmation e-mail will be sent to your e-mail written on your application.

2)      Your LA will be sent to the related coordinators at DPU and be confirmed by the department as well.

3)      After the approval from the department your confirmed documents and acceptance/invitation letter will be posted to the address of International Relations Office at your University.

VISA

Before leaving for Türkiye, exchange students should pick their letters of acceptance and obtain a multi-entry student visa from the nearest Turkish Consulate.

ACCOMODATION

There is a wide range of accommodation options for students: staying in public or private dormitories with their modern buildings including catering facilities, bathrooms in each room; and in hostels, furnished rooms or shared-flats with other students.

At main campus there is a private dormitory which offers a warm and friendly service. The dormitory is newly constructed; it has wireless internet facility and offers breakfast and dinner for students.

Besides the main dormitory students can reside in other part of the city in the state owned dormitory that contains 1000 girl-student rooms and 1000 boy-student rooms.

There are also different opportunities for students such as private student hostels and housing. If you have any demand related with these private accommodation facilities, indicate this while filling the application forms that will be sent to the International Relations Office.

Getting to Kütahya

Kütahya does not have its own airport. The nearest airports to Kütahya are in İstanbul and Ankara (capital city). From both cities there are direct connections to Kütahya either by train or by bus.

RESIDENCE PERMIT

Upon your arrival International Relations Office welcomes you at the office and help for the required documents for the residence permission.

1)      An official paper from the Registrar’s Office, confirming that the student is registered

2)      Copies of the residence permit application forms

3)      6 original photographs

4)      Completion of the Student Information Sheet, given by the local authorities (available at the International Relations Office)

5)      A photocopy of the passport and student visa page
